Great for the price. Review by Chris
Just finished a 4 week tour with these.
In life you generally get what you pay for. They are so cheap that I didn’t expect much. But they are well made and look fairly sturdy, even the zips.
There are three strong velcro fixings and 4 adjustable webbing straps attached, enough to fix them securely to most bikes. For belt-and-braces types there are also 4 loose bungy cords included, and rings on the panniers front and rear to attach them.
An unexpected bonus was that they have those zipper arrangements to expand the width: so the total capacity is 40 litres (not just the 24 litres implied by the dimensions provided). They hold everything I need for a long trip without the need for a tank bag, top box or backpack. And there are 3 useful side pockets for documents and tools.
I’d say they are water-resistant rather than waterproof, because the zips and seams look like they would permit some leakage. But that’s no problem if you pack your stuff in plastic bags.
I have a luggage rack instead of a pillion seat, but it looks like they would work OK thrown over a pillion seat and still let you carry a passenger.
One thing that might improve them is some sort of rigid internal structure because they look slightly droopy from behind when fully expanded. But they do the job well and for under 30 quid they are 5-star value. (Posted on 8/1/18)
